“Whoever controls the media, controls the mind”
― Jim Morrison

Media has been all over the world since 1920’s. As our inventions and ideas grows more, the media also grow through the years.

But what do we patronize and appreciate more?
The Traditional Media? or The New Media?
Let us look back on their background and what media are more appreciable in today’s generation.

NEW MEDIA

Digital technologies that take advantage of computers and the Internet have led to products and services that provide information or entertainment. Social media, blogs, video games and online news outlets are typically referred to as “new media.” These channels of communication have far-reaching implications for society, including in business and politics.-by Brian Neese, February 15, 2016

New media has grown more in our generation. In new media, it is an information that came from the usage of technologies. Most of the writers publish their works through new media because it is easier and faster. In technology, there are a lot of applications that provides information like facebook, twitter, instagram, google mail, yahoo mail, news websites and etc. By the use of technologies we can easily research the information that we need and the information that we want to share with others.

TRADITIONAL MEDIA

Traditional media refers to mediums that are part of our culture for over half a century. These forms include television, radio, print advertisements, and billboards. The most expensive form of marketing – television ads – have the power to reach broad and targeted audiences, depending on the reach of the channels selected. Radio is another medium that can broadly target audiences. Print advertisements such as those in newspapers and magazines, and billboard ads continue to be used to attract large groups of people at once. – by Megha Shah – October 10, 2017

In my experience, Traditional media has been a big help for all of us because it provides the information that we need like news, issues, updates, entertainment and etc. The information was provided by selling printed news paper, watching news in televisions, and listening to news updates in radio. Printed information’s may comprise of such thing as books, newspapers, magazines and journals among others. So by printed information’s it helps us to gather details that we need like reading books. It is a bit hard because there are some people who search for information in the national library just to borrow the books that contains the information that they need, like dictionaries, magazines, encyclopedias and etc.

What media are the most patronized and appreciated ?

As we can see in today’s generation. There are a least of people who uses traditional media as an information source. Traditional media are still used now a days, but not very often unlike the new media that we use 24 hours a day. We patronize new media more than the traditional media because we demand for a fast connection through gathering information. In new media, we can easily connect, create, communicate and share ideas fastly, We just need to press the buttons of our technologies and the information that we need are all in your phone applications and websites in the internet. By new media, we are free to connect with each other and we are free to share and gain ideas.

But, all of us must be mindful in using new media. Because in our actions and post, reflects who we are. New media has controlled us to be addicted to it, but we must control our selves by preventing in discriminating and hurting someone. We must all remember that we must “THINK” before we “CLICK”. Let us all be careful in using new media for us to grow more and expand our world through connected nations.

The connection starts with us, so we must be aware in providing information in every media. We must only provide the true information and helpful information.
